Abstract

Wetlands are among the world’s most productive environment. They provide tremendous economic benefits to mankind through the production of fish and other plants and animals. But these processes can be maintained if the ecology of wetlands is allowed to continue functioning. Many environmental factors directly or indirectly affect the productivity of wetlands. Knowing the environmental status of a wetland can provide us the status of the place itself and will help in planning conservation methods, mitigation techniques and promoting the conservation of the place. This project was done to determine the environmental status and fish diversity of Maguri Beel of Tinsukia so that the current needs could be addressed and recommendations could be given for promoting the conservation of the place.
